Today, we’re excited to introduce a solution that addresses a common challenge in Microsoft Planner: the absence of an @mention feature in comments. Our newly developed solution gives you the function you've wanted for so long!


The Challenge

Microsoft Planner is a powerful tool for task management, yet it has been missing a feature that many users have long desired: the ability to @mention team members within comments. Without this function, it can be difficult to reach out to someone for updates on a task, especially when Planner’s standard notifications are sometimes overlooked or fail to notify the intended person.


The Solution

Picture this: you’ve assigned a task to your team and want to follow up with a specific member. You might comment, “How are you getting on with this one, David?” but without the @mention capability, David won’t receive a direct notification. This is where our innovative Power Automate solution steps in.


With our solution, when you add an @ in a Planner comment, here’s what happens:


  • Notification: The relevant team member receives a Microsoft Teams notification containing your comment, along with the task name and a direct link back to the task.


  • Clean Communication: The @mention itself is automatically removed from the Teams message, keeping the communication neat and focused.


  • Personal Touch: The notification is sent from the person who posted the comment, adding a personal touch to the interaction.


This solution not only enhances comment notifications but also ensures that the right person is always aware when a comment has been added to a task.
